Dr. Alexis Hope is a designer and researcher based at the MIT Media Lab, where she focuses on participatory design and community innovation. Prior to joining MIT, Alexis led a team to develop a portable, low-cost ultrasound machine to reduce maternal mortality alongside midwives and radiologists in Kenya, Uganda, and Seattle. She was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow from 2012 - 2015, and is currently a LEGO Papert Fellow.
