Ellen Blix

Ellen Blix is a partner at SignalFire, an early-stage venture capital manager based in San Francisco with over $1.8 billion in assets under management. Previously, Ellen was a Managing Director at Commonfund Capital, the private capital arm of Commonfund. Ellen was previously a Vice President at BlackRock for six years, where she was an investment strategist for the Institutional iShares business with a focus on endowments, foundations, non-profit healthcare systems and pension plans. Earlier in her career, Ellen was an investment banker at Lehman Brothers and Wasserstein Perella & Co., both in New York.
Ellen received a S.B. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Biology and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business school in Finance. While at MIT, she was a four-year member of the varsity women’s crew team. She chairs the board for the Ocean Discovery League, a non-profit focused on supporting accessibility in deep sea exploration, and serves on the board of the Lake Tahoe Ski Club Foundation, a non-profit founded in 1931 to support ski racers from around the Lake Tahoe region, and as a member of the investment committee for the Foundation for California Community Colleges. Ellen is the past board treasurer for the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco. She lives in Northern California with her husband and three children, where they love getting outside into nature and in the winter, they can be found alpine ski racing (kids) and cheering (parents) near Lake Tahoe.
